Local 21 Retirees

At ILWU Local 21, we recognize and value the retirees who spent their careers building the strength of our union. These hardworking individuals dedicated years to a challenging industry, helping shape the foundation of our organization and securing the benefits we enjoy today. Their contributions are a lasting part of our union’s legacy, and we’re thankful for the role they’ve played.

Many of our retirees also took on the responsibility of training the next generation of longshore workers. They passed down their skills and knowledge, teaching safe and efficient operation of cranes and machinery essential to our cargo operations. Their mentorship has been instrumental in developing the highly capable workforce we have today.

Even in retirement, many remain active in Local 21, contributing their time and experience in meaningful ways. Some assist in overseeing elections and ensuring the voting process runs smoothly, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to the union and its values. Their involvement serves as a reminder of the strong sense of community and continuity that defines Local 21.

This page stands as a token of our appreciation — a recognition of the contributions of our retirees and the lasting impact they’ve had on our union’s history and future.
