At ILWU Local 21, we’re proud to give back to our community, and a big part of that happens through the hard work of our Community Action Committee. This group is all about solidarity, outreach, and lending a helping hand.

Every few months, the committee heads to The Community House on Broadway to serve up a hot meal to folks in need. From planning and gathering supplies to cooking and serving, our team takes care of it all—and always with heart.

When the holiday season rolls around, we organize our annual Holiday Toy Drive. It’s a chance for our members to share the joy of the season, donating toys that go to kids through the Salvation Army. It’s all about making sure every child has something to smile about during the holidays.

But our efforts don’t stop there. The Community Action Committee is always looking for ways to strengthen our bond with the community—whether it’s supporting local charities, joining in community events, or stepping up when tough times hit.

Through every project and act of service, the committee lives out the core values of ILWU Local 21: commitment, unity, and the belief that our union’s impact goes far beyond the job site—it reaches into the heart of our community.
